EDUCATION: KOGI STATE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, ANKPA, RECOGNISES HON AKUS WITH AWARD OF EXCELLENCE The Honourable member representing Ankpa1 state constituency, Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Akus Lawal has bagged 'Award of Excellence' from Kogi State College of Education (KSCOE), Ankpa. The award was presented by the Dean of School of Education, Dr Ejiga, during its second International Conference held at Kogi State College of Education Ankpa recently in recognition of Akus overwhelming efforts towards the development of education in his constituency. The Dean appreciated Akus for granting a full scholarship to over 30 students from Ankpa LG who are schooling in the College, enjoining other public office holders to emulate him. It would be recalled that Akus's love for education and its accessibility to all and sundry led him into creating "AKUS EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION" upon assumption in office, through which he has donated educational materials to various schools in his constituency, organised quizzes among students to unravel their hidden talents, granted scholarship to numerous students from Primary schools to tertiary institutions Full to joy, Hon. PDP lose as the PDP National Working Committee grants Wike control over Rivers. Wike’s loyalist within the PDP National Working Committee have successfully gained approval and postponed the National Executive Committee meeting, which was initially scheduled for September 26, to October 24. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has strengthened his stance in the ongoing leadership dispute within the Peoples Democratic Party, as the National Working Committee has officially supported the congresses held in Rivers State. “They have achieved their aim. Wike has again defeated the PDP governors as the NWC approved the Rivers and other states’ congresses. There was nothing a few NWC members who were against it could do other than allow them to have their way. As it stands, only the NEC can overturn it to suit the governors’ demands. “The Rivers State Congresses and those of other states were approved by the NWC. A few states where issues were identified were stepped down. For example, in Kogi, the Chairman and Deputy were not approved due to anomalies. “Only the NEC can overturn the NWC’s decision on Rivers and other states. However, the NEC meeting, originally slated for September 26, has been postponed to October 24, which may not hold on that date. As it stands, Wike has defeated the Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed-led PDP Governors Forum,” A source told the Punch.

The Federal Government has allocated N47.5 billion for the initial phase of upgrading 50 chosen senior secondary schools nationwide. Dr. Iyela Ajayi, the Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), revealed this information during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Government Science Secondary School (GSSC) Koton Karfe, Kogi State on Wednesday. He said, “This is just the first phase, when this phase is completed then we can then report to the President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Education and say we have finished completion of this phase. “This will allow them to come and complete this project and we will move unto the next phase. “So those schools that are not going to benefit from the first phase, I want them to be patient because after the first phase we will come to them. “The intervention for the first phase will cover about 47.5billiin for the 50 schools,’

Some among us have chosen to join the ruling party, driven by the hope of securing opportunities or for reasons best known to them. However, the recent Supreme Court ruling has caused a stir, leading some to second-guess their decisions, deleting social media posts, and rethinking their affiliations. This confusion highlights a deeper issue which means many of us do not have a clear understanding of what we truly want. It’s crucial to realize that life after graduation is not just about aligning ourselves with those in power. It’s about having a vision for our future and consistently working towards it, no matter the circumstances. Joining a party or being known by the ruling class should never be the ultimate goal. Instead, we must ask ourselves: WHAT DO I WANT TO ACHIEVE? WHAT IMPACT DO I WANT TO MAKE? HOW DO I WANT TO BE REMEMBERED? I think this advice from me will be of help in our struggle to make it politically and beyond: We should Know What we Want: Let's spend time reflecting on our values, passions, and long-term goals. This self-awareness is the foundation of a fulfilling and impactful life. Once we know what we want, everything else becomes clearer. Let's Stand By Our Vision: When we've identified our goals, stand firm in our pursuit of them. Happy birthday Tenimu Concern. The Man who is truly living his Name. He's concerned about the wellbeing of everyone and everything he sees. I remember he solely drove from Abuja to pick me and my newly wedded wife just to avoid public vehicle. I remember during water scarcity at Kogi State University hostel, Tenimu would filled his old 504 Peugeot with water for students.
