Ahmad Muhammad Kabir, a student at the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State, has admitted to playing a significant role in offering logistical assistance and supplying weapons to infamous terrorist organizations active in the area.

He was captured by law enforcement while trying to transport a substantial amount of ammunition to bandits in the Dutsinma-Katsina region.

On Wednesday, Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, announced that the Armed Forces of Nigeria needs an annual supply of 200 million rounds of ammunition to effectively carry out its operations and it will cost the government almost N600 Billion.

He mentioned that this expense incurred by the government amounted to no less than $2 for each round of ammunition.

The minister revealed this information while formalizing a memorandum of understanding among the Ministry of Defense, the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, and the National Agency for Science and Engineering to set up an ammunition manufacturing facility in Nigeria.

He said m, “We have been travelling all over the world, and we see how local manufacturers are developing their countries. Unfortunately, Nigeria, for 60 years,  has failed to build the institutions, but that has changed, and it will continue changing, inshallah.

“Therefore, I make a promise to Mr President that as far as MOD, before the expiration of his four years, I assure him that DICON will be exporting its military capabilities.

“Therefore, all we need from all of you is prayers and your dedication.

“We shall look at it as our baby, not just for me, but for all of us. Of course, if today we are doing even 60 or 70% reductions of our military hardware and ammunition, how much the ministry or the military are spending every year?

“The requirement of just the military is about 200 million rounds of ammunition per annum. Just military. Put together, other paramilitaries, the police, we’re looking at about 350 million rounds of ammunition per annum”.

We Didn’t Plan To Kill The Two Traditional Rulers, My Friends Shot Them, And We Ran Away – According to Babusa Lede

According to a Punch article, once Babusa Lede, a suspect in the murder of two traditional rulers, was taken into custody, he said that his friends had shot the two traditional rulers and fled instead of them. According to Assistant Inspector-General of Police Dare Ogundare, the suspect’s arrest was made possible by the state’s security services working together.

While speaking to reporters, Babusa Lede confessed to the crime, saying he was one of those who attacked the two traditional rulers. He claimed that he was threatened with being shot by the five team members who came to the road for the operation if he didn’t join. According to Lede, the gang brought ammunition while he was tending to his cows in the bush. Upon their request, he joined them.

He confesses, “We were five that came to the road for the operation. I am a herder and I have my cows in the bush. The other four threatened to shoot me if I did not join them in the operation. They brought the ammunition, and I was going about in the bush with my cows when they said I should join. When we were in the bush, we saw the vehicle conveying the three traditional rulers from a distance, and we jumped on the road.

We didn’t plan to kill the two traditional rulers, but I would not know what happened, and my friends shot them, and we ran away. They left the bush immediately. They have been kidnapping people for ransom. I joined them once for it; they gave me N5,000 from the money they collected. It was when I came to town from the bush to buy Garri that I was arrested by the security operatives.”
