In a concerted effort to combat banditry and various security issues, the Sokoto State Government has provided the newly formed Community Guard Corps with 20 Hilux vans and 710 motorcycles.

On Thursday, Col. Abdul Usman (Rtd.), the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, presented vehicles and motorcycles to the commanders from the 13 local government areas most impacted by banditry, during a ceremony at the state headquarters of the corps.

Col. Usman mentioned that the vehicles were supplied to enhance the corps' ability to access the most isolated areas of their communities.

He emphasized the importance of responsible usage of vehicles and motorcycles among the corps personnel.

He said, “These vehicles and motorcycles are not for personal use but for official use only. Remember that the government has spent a significant amount of money to purchase them, so ensure their proper use and regular maintenance.”
