For the first time in 40 years, the USFL is back. Well, at least theUSFL is back. The new spring league has no affiliation with the old one, but it is harkening back to the teams and brands that composed the most succe sful spring league ever back in the 1980s.Before the season can begin, however, each of the eight USFL teams will need to fill out their rosters.Each of the USFL's teams is scheduled to contain 45 total players. Thirty-eight will be on the active roster while seven Dwight Smith Jr. Jersey will remain on the practice squad.That said, there is a player pool of 500 that teams can choose from. The draft is scheduled to last 35 rounds, with the first 12 rounds occurring on Day 1 and the final 23 occurring on Day 2.The first day of the draft will begin at 7 p.m. ET and will run through 10 p.m. ET. The second day will begin at 10 a.m. ET and will run until all 35 rounds of the draft are completed. The USFL has not yet announced whether the event will be televised.The draft begins just under one month before the league's March 21 training camp is set to begin. Players who wish to be draft-eligible must sign a contract with the league before the draft begins on Feb. 22.The 2022 USFL Draft is reportedly going to operate similarly to the 2019 XFL Draft in that the teams will pick from the same position pool in each round. They will fill 35 of each team's 38 roster spots, so teams will each have to add 10 players after the draft.
