Following his team's defeat by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Jonathan Batty, head coach of the Delhi Capitals (DC), expressed his feelings. He believed his squad did not play their best game, so they lost.

A Strong Beginning, But Insufficient Runs

Delhi Capitals started their batting with a setback as Shafali Verma went out in the opening over. But Meg Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues got along well. 

They gave DC hope for a high total by adding 59 runs in just 39 balls. But after Jemimah got out, the team struggled.

"After the powerplay, we were 55 for 1, which was a good score," stated Jonathan Batty. However, we lost wickets far too quickly after that. 

He thought DC would have a better chance of winning if they scored 30–40 more runs. 170-180 would have been a far better score.

The Powerful Batting Performance of RCB

The RCB batters performed admirably. Their captain, Smriti Mandhana, attacked DC's bowlers right away. 

In just 11 overs, she and Danni Wyatt-Hodge formed a formidable partnership, scoring 107 runs. DC's chances of making a comeback were virtually eliminated as a result.

Batty admitted that 141 runs were not enough. “With dew coming in, batting becomes easier. He clarified, "We needed to take quick wickets, but we couldn't."

Jemimah Rodrigues Shines for Delhi Capitals

One player, Jemimah Rodrigues, stood out despite DC's defeat. She played confidently and quickly scored 34 runs off of just 22 balls. 

"Over the past year, Jemimah has been playing very well," Batty said, praising her performance. She played constructive cricket and handled pressure well.

The Pitching Challenge

Batty also discussed the Vadodara pitch. He said the first game had big scores, but the pitches slowed down a little after that. 

However, he still believes that teams can score between 180 and 200 runs if they play well.

What Will Happen to the Delhi Capitals Next?

While this was a painful setback, DC has learned some crucial lessons. They need to develop stronger partnerships and avoid throwing away their wickets carelessly. If they do that, they can return more decisive in the following games.
