When we had our turf installed, I was told it was “virtually maintenance-free.” That’s mostly true—but like anything around the home, a little TLC goes a long way. If you’ve just installed artificial grass or are thinking about it, here’s how to keep it looking fresh for years.

1. Give It a Quick Brush Now and Then

Turf fibres can flatten over time, especially in high-use spots. Use a stiff broom or power brush every couple of weeks to lift them back up and keep that lush, full look.

2. Rinse After Pets or Spills

If you’ve got pets, rinse the turf regularly—especially after they do their business. Use a hose and mild detergent if needed. There are turf-friendly deodorisers available too.

3. Keep It Clear of Debris

Leaves, twigs, and dirt can build up over time. A light rake or leaf blower keeps everything neat—and ensures drainage remains effective.

4. Watch for Moss or Weeds at the Edges

While turf itself resists weeds, they can still creep in around the edges. A quick spot spray (with turf-safe weedkiller) takes care of it.

5. Don’t Park on It

Artificial grass is tough, but it’s not made for car tyres. Avoid parking vehicles or heavy equipment on your lawn—it could crush the base and fibres.

Final Word

Turf doesn’t ask for much, but giving it a little attention keeps it looking brand new. With minimal effort, your artificial grass can stay fresh, soft, and green all year round.
