Tips for the Care and Maintenance of Peristaltic Pumps

Peristaltic pumps are renowned for their ease of maintenance.  

1. Roller Lubrication: Regularly lubricate the rollers to ensure smooth operation. Periodically check the tightness of the rollers. If they are too loose, tighten them using a pair of pliers. If the looseness persists, the inner bearings of the rollers may be worn out. In this case, replace the bearings or the entire roller assembly.

2. Bearing Lubrication: Lubricate the roller bearings every six months or so.

3. Gearbox Oil: After a period of operation, drain the old oil from the gearbox and refill it with 30# gear oil.

While we know that peristaltic pumps have low maintenance costs, it's important to understand where these savings come from. Only those who have used peristaltic pumps can truly appreciate the cost savings they offer.

Maintenance activities, such as moving, relocating, and reinstalling the pump, can be time-consuming and impact operational efficiency. The ease of replacing the pump tube is a significant advantage. Moreover, different pump tubes can be selected based on the fluid being transferred, offering flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

Do peristaltic pumps require cleaning and maintenance? 

Peristaltic pumps generally do not require cleaning as the fluid only comes into contact with the pump tube. The pump body has a long maintenance cycle and, under normal operating conditions, only needs to be serviced every six months.
